Dental cavities are holes (or structural damage) in the teeth. Symptoms may include tooth pain or achy feeling, particularly after sweet, hot, or cold foods and drinks. However, there may not be any symptoms at all. To treat a cavity, the decayed portion of the tooth must be removed and then “filled” with a restorative material. These restorations include dental amalgams and resin composite fillings. Several factors influence the performance, durability, longevity and cost of these fillings. Please ask us about the pros and cons of the various materials available.
